Pence says there is "no daylight" between United States and South Korea

Where To Watch The Full Olympic Opening Ceremony So You Don't Miss A Moment

The North Korean delegation arrived in the South on Kim's private plane on Friday via Incheon global airport to attend the opening ceremony of the Pyongchang Winter Olympics where Seoul and Pyongyang are represented by joint teams.

Moon and Pence didn't discuss an invitation extended by Kim Jong Un to meet with the South Korean leader in Pyongyang, said a senior White House official who requested anonymity to discuss internal deliberations.

Saturday's meeting also involved the North's ceremonial head of state, Kim Yong Nam, who led what apparently turned out to be a 21-member delegation to the opening ceremony of the Pyeongchang Olympics on Friday.

The spokesman said Moon did not immediately agree to a meeting, adding that the two countries should continue to work on creating a political atmosphere that would make such a meeting feasible.

The lunch Saturday at Seoul's presidential mansion between Moon and Kim Yo Jong was the most significant diplomatic encounter between the rivals in years.

She is part of an official North Korean delegation to the Winter Olympics in Pyeongchang, and she attended the opening ceremony of the Games on Friday.

"Special envoy Kim Yo Jong delivered a personal letter" from her brother stating his "wish to improve inter-Korean relations", said Moon's spokesman Kim Eui-kyeom.

Couric pointed out Vice President Mike Pence was sitting in the same dignitary box with Kim Yo-jong, sister of North Korean leader Kim Jong-un.

Switzerland drew first blood halfway through the first period on a short-handed play and continued to place pucks in the net, their players fist-pumping and cheering as they stretched the goal gap wider and wider.

Pyongyang has ruled out a meeting with the U.S. delegation during the Winter Games.

The highlight of the opening ceremony on Friday was the handshake between South Korean president Moon Jae-in and the North Korean leader's sister.

"When we left Korea in the 1950s, the city of Seoul was total devastation, just nothing but rubble", Ewing said. "The Olympics started the dialogue between North and South Korea and that's better than shooting at each other".

Pyongyang conducted its largest nuclear test past year and said it had developed a missile capable of carrying a warhead to the United States.

The invitation, delivered in person by Kim Jong Un's younger sister, Kim Yo Jong, will likely cause consternation in Washington, where the Trump administration has been leading a campaign to put "maximum pressure" on the Kim regime to give up its nuclear program.

USA officials have been urging South Korea to be cautious in its rapprochement with the North. Here, Murray and the South Korean players (in black) welcomed North Korea's coach Pak Chol-Ho and members of the northern team last month.

At the opening ceremony for the Games, Mr Pence, Kim Yo-jong and Kim Yong-nam were seated in close proximity to each other.

Also, North Korea sent its own cheerleader squad and an art troupe who are scheduled to perform in the Pyeongchang Winter Games. South Korea wants a northern neighbor without nukes; North Korea vows to keep its weapons until the United States discards its "hostile" policies against the country. International Olympic Committee President Thomas Bach then handed the podium to Moon, who declared the Olympics officially open.

A relaxation of tensions on the Korean Peninsula due to the Pyeongchang Games renewed hopes for a diplomatic solution to the crisis and escalating war of worlds between Pyongyang and the US.
