'Crowd attacked AAP leaders at Delhi Secretariat'

Anshu Prakash

Delhi government bureaucrats on Wednesday reiterated their demand of Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal's apology for the alleged assault on Chief Secretary Anshu Prakash and said that they would continue to boycott meetings called by him and his cabinet colleagues till he apologises. Deoli legislator Jarwal, who was detained last night, was also arrested, a police official said.

After a two-hour meeting in the evening, IAS, DANICS, DASS and other associations of government officers made a decision to continue with the boycott until the CM apologised for the assault on chief secretary Anshu Prakash.

IAS association came out in support of 1986 batch IAS, Anshu Prakash.

The AAP MLAs Prakash Jarwal and Amantullah are one of the accused named in the FIR lodged by Prakash. There was a meeting of MLAs at CM's residence. "The civil servants should be allowed to work with dignity and without fear", Home Minister Rajnath Singh said. The sources confirmed TOI that Jarwal was sitting on the left side of the chief secretary whereas MLA Amanatullah Khan was on the other side.

"In total, nine AAP MLAs were present at the CM's residence when the Chief Secretary was assaulted".

Earlier in the day, Kejriwal's adviser V.K. Jain was questioned at the Civil Lines police station and let off. AAP party has also alleged that the Chief Secretary had used abusive words during the meeting.

The officer claimed he was questioned about the AAP government's media publicity during the meeting, while the AAP functionaries say he was called to discuss complaints on ration distribution.

Deputy chief minister Manish Sisodia said the Chief Secretary's allegations were "bizarre".

"They [police] will take action in accordance with law".

Meanwhile, AAP leaders Sanjay Singh and Ashutosh during a press conference have said, "We are being hounded". Later, turning down AAP's proposal of appointing Ramesh Negi, the KG appointed K.K.Sharma as the chief secretary.

Speaking about the Chief Secretary's absence in the Assembly meeting, Bharadwaj said: "The Committee members feel that against all these people and against IAS Association leaders, contempt proceedings have to be taken up". It's a criminal, cowardly & deplorable act and an assault on the Constitution.

Manisha Saxena, Secretary of IAS association added that the association will work wearing a black bandage saying, "As far as IAS and DANICS associations are concerned, there is not going to be any strike". "It will be a very unsafe situation if Delhi goes towards administrative paralysis", he said.
