Pakistan Not to Send 'Recalled' High Commissioner Back to India Anytime Soon

Official spokesperson of the Ministry of External Affairs, Raveesh Kumar, said such consultation between a country's embassy and foreign office are routine processes and there is nothing unusual in this.

"On Friday, four High Commission of India officials travelling in an official vehicle were aggressively followed while going to Aabpara market by two unknown persons on motorbikes in an intimidating manner". In a 12th complaint, India alleged that some bike-borne men harassed an Indian diplomat and his family in Islamabad.

Pakistan said it has called home its envoy Sohail Mahmood for consultations after repeated incidents of "harassment" of its diplomatic staff in New Delhi.

"We can not send our commerce minister toIndia in the current situation and India has been informed about it", a ministry source said.

"We have asked the Pakistan Government to investigate these incidents and ensure that such incidents do not recur and share the result of the investigation with us", the sources said.

Aside from the diplomatic spat surrounding Britain and Russian Federation or the war of words between Trump administration and North Korea, a new row has been emerging between diplomats in India and Pakistan - over ringing of bells late at night.

According to an Indian Express report, the incidents of harassment and intimidation started the day some positive diplomatic efforts came to a fruition on March 7.

"Harassment is the new normal for Indian high commission personnel in Islamabad", a source was quoted as saying. While New Delhi has taken up the matter with Islamabad multiple times in the last nine months, there has reportedly been no respite. The official defended the move, asserting that current situations it was not possible for the high commissioner to operate out of New Delhi.

The diplomatic source was further quoted as claiming that children of Pakistan's deputy high commissioner were stopped and harassed while they were going to school.

The tit for tat action had already started in May of past year when Pakistan started intermittently "blocking Indian government websites in Pakistan" including the one used to receive and process visas over the internet.
