Jared Kushner receives full security clearance

White House Senior Adviser Jared Kushner

Another attorney for Kushner, Jamie Gorelick, said that Kushner's security clearance form, known as an SF-86, was "prematurely submitted" and that "among other errors, [it] did not list any contacts with foreign government officials".

White House officials have blamed the delay in Kushner receiving his security clearance on administrative backlogs normal to a new administration, as well as the complicated nature of his application, CNN reported.

Kushner was one of a number of White House aides that had been working in the administration without a permanent security clearance for the better part of a year. This caps a almost 18- month review of his security application, which was held up after Kushner failed to disclose contacts he had with foreign officials - including Russians - as required by law. "Having completed all of these processes, he is looking to continue to do the work the President has asked him to do".

"In each occasion, he answered all questions asked and did whatever he could to expedite the conclusion of all the investigation", Lowell said.

Kushner was stripped of his interim clearance in February amid an overhaul of procedures governing access to the nation's most sensitive secrets following the resignation of Rob Porter, the President's staff secretary, who had been allowed to remain in his post for months despite allegations of spouse abuse. But now it appears that the investigators haven't found anything which would have deemed Kushner a security threat. That meant Kushner was able to see information only at the lower "secret" level, but not highly classified information.

White House senior adviser Jared Kushner recently obtained a full security clearance, Fox News has learned, months after his interim security clearance was downgraded amid new rules issued by White House Chief of Staff John Kelly.

Some had expected Kushner might not receive a permanent clearance for the duration of Mueller's investigation.

Kushner had to file three updates to his national security questionnaire, a form that guides the Federal Bureau of Investigation background check and asks for voluminous information about a person's employment history, finances, family, travel and other matters.

Kushner later updated the questionnaire multiple times to account for all relevant meetings, including "over 100 calls or meetings with representatives of more than 20 countries", Gorelick told ABC News.

The resolution of his clearances does not guarantee that Mr. Kushner faces no legal jeopardy.
