Kyrgios Queen's quest ends, Wimbledon next

Nick Kyrgios believes Britain's Kyle Edmund can be a Wimbledon threat

It was a painful defeat for Djokovic.

Cilic was on the verge of a third loss in the Queen's final when Djokovic held a match point in the second set.

Kyrgios, who beat British pair Andy Murray and Kyle Edmund this week, was satisfied with his work after he followed up a run to the final in Stuttgart last week with one to the last four at Queen's.

"I wasn't really thinking about the occasion or the title or whatever when I was match point up".

Inspired by that escape act, Cilic powered through the deciding set to leave Djokovic shell-shocked as he won the Wimbledon warm-up event for the first time since 2012.

With Cilic pounding the return, the Serb showed remarkable flexibility and speed when defending to stay alive before his opponent netted a backhand.

A high-level showdown full of thundering serves boiled down to two tiebreaks in which the ice-cool Cilic proved the more composed player to set up a Sunday showdown with former world No.1 Novak Djokovic.

But it was the double fault midway through the match which Djokovic feels cost him so dearly.

The heat was sweltering and in the next game there was a stoppage as a member of the crowd required help from the medical team.

That crucially changed moments later as Djokovic clinched the set.

He saved a first break point at 1-1 but then needed to save five more at 3-3, and was lucky that Cilic could not execute on any of them when given the chance.

Cilic booked his place in a second successive Queen's Club final by edging Nick Kyrgios 7-6 (3), 7-6 (4).

It was something of a return to form for the 12-time grand slam champion this week though, and he could easily have won in what was his 99th career final, but he missed that match point in the second set.

Cilic produced a stunning forehand passing shot on his way to breaking for a 5-3 lead in the decider and then delivered a nerveless service game to close out the match in just under three hours.

Rybarikova twice broke the Kvitova serve in the opening set and looked a strong candidate to claim the fifth WTA tour title of her career.
