Demi Lovato overdose not caused by heroin

Demi Lovato

Singer Demi Lovato was rushed to the hospital just before noon on Tuesday, TMZ reports.

In a statement to Entertainment Tonight, Lovato's rep gave fans an update on Lovato's state after the incident. "Some of the information being reported is incorrect and they respectfully ask for privacy and not speculation as her health and recovery is the most important thing right now", the statement read.

Earlier, TMZ, citing an unnamed law enforcement source, reported that the victim was the 25-year-old singer and US X Factor judge, who has struggled with substance abuse for years.

The condition of the singer is unknown.

Exact details on her medical emergency have not been revealed. The song "Sober", released June 21, revealed that Lovato had fallen off the wagon after six years sober from drugs and alcohol, Vogue reports.

Lovato previously completed a stint in rehab at age 18 for drugs, self-harm and an eating disorder before finally getting clean in 2012.

Last week, she performed as part of Amazon's Post-Prime Day Celebration Concert on Friday in Seattle, Washington.

She apologises to her parents before singing in the chorus, "To the ones who never left me / We've been down this road before / I'm so sorry / I'm not sober anymore". It was an emotional reunion - I got one of my best friends back'.

Less than 24 hours before the emergency, she posted a selfie on Instagram. I am so happy you're alive.

Many other stars felt this way, telling the 25-year-old through their social media accounts that they were "rooting" for her. She said she went straight to an Alcoholics Anonymous meeting instead. "She is a light in this world, and I am sending my love to her and her family". Bollywood actress Priyanka and her boyfriend Nick Jonas have also sent prayers to the pop star through their tweets. She's been honest with him about her relapse, as she has with her family, friends, fans and the entire public, especially with her new song, but he didn't think it was this severe and that she would be struggling so much and have a situation that had these repercussions.
