Les Moonves accuser, 82, claims CBS executive 'shoved her against a wall'

CBS reaches deal with CEO Leslie Moonves amid new sexual harassment claims

Julie Chen appears to be out on CBS Daytime-at least for the short term. "As you all know, Julie's husband is in the news and she's taking off time to be with her family". "I will be back soon and will see you Thursday night on 'Big Brother.'" Her co-hosts had no choice to discuss the situation, and they were visibly uncomfortable.

Chen's absence comes one day after her husband, Les Moonves, resigned as the Chief Executive at CBS after at least 12 women came forward to accuse him of sexual misconduct in a pair of New Yorker articles authored by Pulitzer Prize victor Ronan Farrow published on Sunday.

The advocacy group Times Up said in a statement on Sunday afternoon, "We will accept nothing less than full transparency of the investigation's findings, a commitment to real change across all levels of CBS management and no reward for Les Moonves". But I'm confident the culture of the entertainment division is very safe, very collaborative and very welcoming. "Leslie is a good man and a loving father, devoted husband and inspiring corporate leader", she said in a statement. An earlier New Yorker report in August from Ronan Farrow identified the six women who initially talked about sexual misconduct by Moonves, who - after the story's publication - admitted to some unwanted advances.

"I needed the job", she said. She's been a friend. She also said the story from former TV executive Phyllis Golden-Gottlieb "broke my heart". "It's very embarrassing and upsetting to talk about her husband, but we do. But we do. We feel it's right".

Moonves' will reportedly leave the company with a lavish exit package, potentially worth as much as $100 million, according to reports. It was, 'Hello, how are you?' Nothing more. When Julie Chen returns to CBS this week to host her other show, she won't have to answer to the stars of the show because the Big Brother cast is sequestered and have no clue what is going on with her husband.

CBS chief operating officer, Joseph Ianniello, will take over for Moonves as president and CEO until the company's board of directors can find a permanent replacement.

Ianniello has worked for the company since 1997 and thus is very familiar with the assets and is the best choice as temporary CEO, Creutz said.

Moonves and CBS will also contribute $20 million to support the #MeToo movement, the company said in a filing.

"Moonves will not receive any severance benefits at this time (other than certain fully accrued and vested compensation and benefits); any payments to be made in the future will depend upon the results of the independent investigation and subsequent board evaluation", the network's statement said.

Moonves resigned three hours after he was accused in the same report of sexual misconduct by six women, bringing the total number of accusers to 12.

Although expected in recent weeks, Moonves' exit is a remarkable turn in the professional fortunes of one of the nation's most powerful executives.

The allegations posted by the New Yorker on Sunday include forced oral sex, Moonves exposing himself without consent and the use of physical violence and intimidation to silence the women. "What is true is that I had consensual relations with three of the women some 25 years ago before I came to CBS".

"I have never used my position to hinder the advancement or careers of women", he said. "I am happy when women are heard because for a long time, they haven't been". Afterward, she talked about her relationship with both Chen and Moonves, who she said she does not know well.
