US Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh faces fresh allegation

Kavanaugh denied the incident occurred calling it

"For people to come out of the woodwork from 36 years ago and 30 years ago and-never mentioned it, all of a sudden it happens-in my opinion, it's totally political".

Farrow similarly told host George Stephanopoulos that "it is not accurate to say that those who knew him at the time dispute this".

Trump said that he would probably not be able to convince Democrats to vote for Kavanaugh, which means he would need the support of nearly every Republican in the Senate.

He spoke as Kavanaugh's nomination appeared in peril after The New Yorker published the account of a second woman who says he exposed himself to her while they were students at Yale. Fellow Republican Sen. Tom Cotton of Arkansas echoed Graham, saying it was time to "end the character assassination" against Kavanaugh.

Trump has been defending Kavanaugh as he faces an allegation from Ford that he pinned her to a bed, groped her, and put his hands over her mouth when they were at a high-school party in the 1980s. Dianne Feinstein (D-Calif.), the ranking Democrat on the committee, to immediately postpone confirmation proceedings until the FBI could investigate.

Grassley had wanted the hearing to take place on Wednesday, but Ford asked that it be held on Thursday at the earliest and to be able to call as a witness a man she says was present during the assault.

Graham, who is a member of the Judiciary committee, tweeted Monday that there are "no boundaries" when it comes to stopping President Donald Trump.

"I think he's an outstanding man".

The second claim against Mr Kavanaugh dates to the 1983-84 academic year, which was his first at Yale University.

"Although many aspects of the proposal you provided via email, on (Friday) are fundamentally inconsistent with the committee's promise of a fair, impartial investigation into her allegations, and we are disappointed with the leaks and the bullying that have tainted the process, we are hopeful that we can reach agreement on details", read the lawyers' letter cited by The Washington Post.

Grilled on Good Morning America by ABC News Chief Correspondent George Stephanopopulos, Farrow insisted Deborah Ramirez came forward only after Senate Democrats "began looking" at the alleged incident with Kavanaugh.

"No innuendo has been too low, no insinuation too dirty", Hatch said in a statement, adding that the committee should proceed with its scheduled Thursday hearing to hear testimony from Kavanaugh and Christine Blasey Ford, a university professor who accused him of sexual assault in 1982.

Journalist Ronan Farrow defended his article in the New Yorker, which says Ramirez spoke to the magazine after "six days of carefully assessing her memories and consulting with her attorney". Those calendars, he says, don't show a party consistent with Ford's description of the gathering in which she says he attacked her, The New York Times reported Sunday.

Per Ramirez, she said she can still remember him standing beside her and pulling up his trousers.
