Police reportedly questioned Kavanaugh after bar fight in 1985

Liz Swisher a former Yale classmate of Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh alleges he lied under oath to the Senate Judiciary Committee

Kavanaugh's former Yale classmate Charles "Chad" Ludington said Kavanaugh had "mischaracterized" his college drinking in his testimony before the Senate Judiciary committee last week, which is now looking into several allegations of sexual assault against the judge. Yeah. It's come to this.

British reggae band UB40 have found themselves ensnared in the latest probe into Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh's collegial drinking habits following a report that Kavanaugh and some Yale classmates were involved in a bar fight following a UB40 concert in September 1985.

The report said that the victim, Dom Cozzolino, "was bleeding from the right ear" and was treated at a hospital. According to the report, Dudley denied the accusation and Kavanaugh did not say if he threw the ice or not.

Dudley, who after Yale went on to the National Basketball Association and was the Republican nominee for governor of OR in 2010, has spoken out in support of Kavanaugh's Supreme Court nomination and disputed reports that he drank excessively.

So, here we are. He was accused of throwing ice on another man, according to the testimony of a man on the scene. These people have no shame. At one point, they were sitting near a man who, they thought, resembled Ali Campbell, the lead singer of UB40. Ludington claimed he often saw Kavanaugh "belligerent and aggressive" while drunk. On Monday, Donald Trump said he believed Kavanaugh's testimony when asked if he would pull the nomination, were it to be revealed Kavanaugh lied about his drinking.

The incident was recounted by Chad Ludington, another classmate of Kavanaugh's who has been in contact with the Federal Bureau of Investigation amid a supplemental background check on Kavanaugh following allegations of sexual misconduct by several women.

"I'm saying there were omissions", Ludington told reporters Monday.

Citing text messages between Kavanaugh and his friends, the NBC report offered the first indication that the judge and Ramirez were more socially intertwined than it was previously known. "Throwing ice 33 years ago, or her opinion of Judge Kavanaugh in July?"

Kavanaugh's drinking habits figure prominently in the sexual-assault allegations levied against him by Christine Blasey Ford and Deborah Ramirez. Amy Klobuchar (D - Minn.) on whether or not he had ever had a night where he "drank so much that [he] couldn't remember what happened", the Kavanaugh responded, "I think you've probably had beers, Senator..."

The most senior Democrat on the Senate's Judiciary Committee, Dianne Feinstein, has sent a letter urging the White House to release the written directive sent by President Trump to the FBI launching the investigation.

RNZ obtained a statement from James Roche who said he will not be granting any more interviews or answering any more questions at this time.
