Theresa May speech to draw eventual Conservative conference to close

Conservative Party annual conference 2018

The profiles of former foreign secretary Mr Johnson and Environment Secretary Michael Gove were among those reportedly accessed.

Raab's combative comments followed Foreign Secretary Jeremy Hunt's remark on Sunday that the EU should not try to prevent a smooth departure by Britain because "it was the Soviet Union that stopped people leaving". "I don't think it's good enough, it's not a good trade".

It would end the free movement of people but still allow citizens to continue to work and study in respective countries.

Under her plans, people and businesses who do not pay tax in Britain will face a surcharge of between 1% and 3% when they buy a property, with the money funding measures to tackle rough sleeping, the newspaper said. The Financial Times's Seb Payne described it as the "beginnings of a leadership bid".

That meeting was widely dubbed an ambush, and it left the Prime Minister further bruised.

Senior Conservatives have hit back at Johnson for his attacks on the government.

It is expected her conference speech on October 3 will be similarly combative.

"He is absolutely right about the threat that Chequers poses to our democracy, our country and ultimately the fortunes of the Conservative Party if we stick with it", Andrew Bridgen, a Conservative lawmaker, said.

Hammond backed May's Brexit plan, but European Union leaders say it amounts to "cherry picking" the benefits of membership in the bloc without assuming the costs and responsibilities.

"I passionately believe that our best days lie ahead of us and that our future is full of promise", she will say, stressing: "Don't let anyone tell you we don't have what it takes: we have everything we need to succeed".

"That's the real nightmare scenario".

But if that's not decided ahead of time and negotiations break down at the last minute, the United Kingdom could crash out of the union, which businesses have warned against.

However, many delegates are wary of the chaos it might unleash to change leaders now.

"I think the whole country will be listening and the whole country will be saying here is a guy that was deeply involved in securing Brexit in the first place who is basically saying that Chequers is a constitutional outrage, and it is", Richard Tice, co-chairman of campaign group Leave means Leave, said after Johnson's speech.

Mr Burns said: "If Chequers had a slogan, it would be "not in Europe, but run by Europe".

In an interview with the Sunday Times, Mr Johnson said the United Kingdom should build a bridge to Ireland and put the HS2 rail line on hold to focus on a high-speed link in the north of England.

The conference will provide a theatrical platform for the former foreign secretary to push his agenda and distract from Mrs May's message.

Having cancelled several speaking engagements this week, Mrs May will also be hoping to exorcise the ghost of last year's conference horror show when she suffered a lengthy coughing fit and was interrupted by a prankster.

Labour says it would prefer a general election rather than a vote, but Ms May has ruled out both a second referendum and an early election.

But already Mr Asma's workforce is dropping.

"Simply because there's no future here for them, or the future is uncertain for them", he told the ABC. "If you want to plan ahead, if you want a future with your family, then the United Kingdom is not the place to stay". "God knows what they can do", he said.

He said: "We must engage in this battle and turn our fire on the enemy, Jeremy Corbyn and his risky hard-left ideas". "I believe we can get a good deal and that's what we are working for".
